Application Process
It is the applicant's responsibility to submit the application and all required documents and fees to the Board. To apply for licensure in Nebraska, an applicant must:
- Submit an email request to nsbla.board@nebraska.gov stating you are seeking comity licensure in Nebraska. Provide your full legal name and the email address under which you wish to have your account with the Board. A unique email must be used for each account. Companies cannot use the same email for multiple individuals, as the email is your username.
- Upon receipt, we will email you the link to complete your account setup and submit your application. In setting up your account:
- You will be required to enter your full Social Security number in compliance with Nebraska Child Support statutes.
- Address should follow standard USPS formatting, including the Zip+4 (i.e., 68509-5165). To look up your address, visit the USPS website.
- Passwords must be at least eight characters, consisting of an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number (0-9), and a special character (!@#$%^&* only).
- Have verification of your license in good standing sent directly to the Board. Verifications may be emailed to nsbla.board@nebraska.gov.
Once your application and license verification have been received and there are no issues (i.e., disciplinary actions that require the Board to review), the Board’s administrator may issue you a conditional license pending formal Board approval. All other applications must go to the Board for its review and action before the license is issued.
- A licensee may begin practicing upon issuance of the conditional license.
- The Board may withdraw a conditional license if it determines the applicant does not qualify for licensure for any reason.
- If this occurs, the conditional license expires at 11:59 pm on the date the licensee is notified of such Board action.
- Landscape architectural services performed pursuant to a conditional license that the Board subsequently withdraws will be deemed performed pursuant to a valid license.
Reinstatements
Professional landscape architects previously licensed in Nebraska whose license has been expired for more than a year must submit the following in order to have their license reinstated:
- Log in to your account to submit your reinstatement application through the online portal and pay the applicable fee. If you have not created an account, no longer have access to the email used to create your account, or do not recall the email on file with the Board, contact the us to verify or update your email on your account at nsbla.board@nebraska.gov;
- Submit documentation of having obtained the required professional development hours as set forth in Chapter 6 of Title 231, Nebraska Administrative Code (the Board's Rules) during the previous two-year period immediately preceding your application submittal, including a log showing the type of activities claimed and attendance verification records;
- Affirm that you have not practiced while your license was expired and submit the Reinstatement Affidavit. If you cannot truthfully sign the affidavit, a letter explaining why must be uploaded, listing the projects you have practiced on; and
- Evidence of meeting the current licensing requirements as outlined in Chapter 2 or Chapter 3 of Title 231, Nebraska Administrative Code.
All applications will go to the Board for review and final action. Once approved, the original license number will be reinstated.
More information on the reinstatement requirements and process can be found in Rule 1.13 of Title 231, Nebraska Administrative Code.
Obtaining a Seal
Licensees may use the company of their choice to obtain an official licensee seal. For your convenience, a list of companies that can assist you in obtaining your seal is available on the Links of Interest page. As an alternative, licensees may use an electronic seal as long as it meets the requirements as set forth in Chapter 4 of Title 231, Nebraska Administrative Code.
