The Nebraska Legislature passed LB30 on Final Reading on February 6, 2020, with a vote of 48-0-1 and signed by the Governor on February 12, 2020. It will go into effect ninety (90) calendar days after the close of the legislative session.
Here is a summary of revisions made to the Professional Landscape Architects Act in LB30:
- Revised the intent of the Act to included welfare
- Definitions added for Coordinating Professional, and Design Professional
- Revision of the definition of Landscape Architecture
- Grouped board member requirements into one section
- Added authority for the Board to use funds for promoting licensure
- Added the ability for the Board to collect processing fees for online renewals and applications
- Removed the minimum fee related to applications
- Expaned the requirements associated with the licensee seal
- Change to a biennium renewal cycle
- Moved provisions related to expired licenses and renewals to Rules and Regulations
- Organized and clarified licensure requirements into one section
- Added additonal paths of licensure
- Added authority to pursue unlicensed practice through the Board's compliance process
- Added Coordinating Professional requirement
